In this article, application of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of osteoarthritis is reviewed. Pros and cons of ultrasonography, general characteristics of ultrasonographic examination in joint disease, normal and pathologic findings in ultrasonography of osteoarthritis are described. For individual joints, ultrasonography of knee, hip and hand joints are described with examination posture and ultrasonographic findings in detail. (Clinical Pain 2012;11: 1-68)
